About Coach & CEO Heather Thompson

Heather Thompson is the Founder and CEO of Attachment Matters, LLC. She holds a B.A. in psychology and California teaching credentials. Her experience spans working with abused children, professional caregiving, teaching SPED and regular education, and facilitating professional development for K–12 stakeholders. She’s spent years in the trenches of education and child development.

Heather holds an Integrated Attachment Theory Coaching™ Certification, specializing in relationship coaching. She’s currently completing her Trauma & Resilience Life Coaching certification through the Trauma Institute of Arizona (expected April 2026). She stays committed to ongoing learning through books, research, courses, and webinars. Her focus areas include attachment theory in education, caregiving, and parenting.

But Heather’s most powerful credential is her lived experience. As a mother to a delightful 20-year-old daughter, Heather discovered attachment theory during her own season of struggle. She began with disorganized (leaning anxious) attachment. Through intentional work, she developed earned secure attachment. This journey transformed not only her relationship with her daughter, but every connection in her life. She watched her daughter thrive. Their bond deepened. The transformation solidified what Heather now knows with certainty: secure attachment isn’t a mystery. It’s learnable. And it’s life-changing.

Heather believes everyone deserves the clarity, connection, and confidence that comes from understanding how we’re wired to relate. Those patterns can be reshaped for good. Just as we invest in personal trainers to strengthen our physical health, working with an attachment-informed coach makes emotional growth more intentional, effective, and lasting.
